Project Title: Transhumance – intangible heritage protected by UNESCO in development in the north of Albania
Project objective:
1. Increasing tolerance, understanding, stability and social peace, in pastoral communities, as a sustainable model for the inhabitants of mountainous areas.
2. Identifying perspectives and models of a sustainable development in deep mountain areas, to curb internal migration and emigration.
3. Education of children and youth from the city to increase the love for the local products, the respect for the profession of the cattle breeder as well as the desire to know the pastoral life and the appreciation of the mountain products.
4. The announcement of ‘Bjeshkim Day’, accompanied by numerous activities on this occasion in three ecological areas of northern Albania.
Main results:
Project results are tangible and easily measurable.
1. Realization of the exhibition on the day of Bjeshkim, where there will be 50 photographic frames measuring 50×30 cm, which reflect the reality of transhumance in Albania (Shkoder, Kukës and Dibër.
2. Realization of three television shows on local TV on transhumance, in the form of a debate to highlight the problems and the need to address them for increasing the interest of public entities, for the development of livestock, the environment and the territory.
3. ‘Feast of the Shepherd’. Fairs with local livestock products will be organized in each district, followed by festivals of popular games, activities that will be carried out in the highlands, with the participation of all the transhumant livestock farmers of the area, tourists, scientific bodies, tourists, etc. It is intended to have over 200 participants.
4. The folk song and dance concert will focus on pastoral traditions, will take place on the day of the fair and festival of folk games, transmitting to the participants the costumes, songs, dances, folk instrumental melodies of the shepherds over the centuries.
